Schoolhouse Jazz is open to high school students looking to hone and develop their playing skills. The program offers six meetings, including four rehearsals, one dress rehearsal, and a culminating public performance. Each session follows a consistent structure: a listening and mindfulness warm‑up, targeted instruction based on original faculty‑developed curriculum, and focused rehearsal and performance time.

The ensemble is co‑led by two faculty instructors who guide the group through each session.

The upcoming session for the Interplay Youth Jazz Orchestra will begin in late April 2026. Rehearsals to take place within an early‑evening two‑hour block, with exact times and place communicated with registrants.
